Ok, so since this site is updated so regularly (hmmm) I thought I would start another blog. This one is a purely going to focus on the intersection of muisc and technology and I really want to make it a pretty decent place. Oh and its not a Typepad blog...I am trying out Wordpress....come check it out.... DigitalTunes.

Regret

My simple post about a new email account at a very desirable domain (that shall remain nameless!) has generated quite a bit of traffic for this site (I show up near the top or at the top of Google search for certain combinations of search terms related to the aforementioned service. Even given bloggings effects on Google's results I am not quite sure how this occured since the terms are not uncommon and I am far from the only blogger to cover this topic) I guess I don't regret the traffic, but I don't think they are reading much else (given the number of requests for an account, I don't think they are reading anything as I make it quite clear I have none to give.)

Finally, if anyone has any theories on the large numder of Indian sounding names in the comments I would love to hear it...

iTunes Affiliate Program Report Vol. 1

I was excited to hear about the new iTunes affilate program...how cool to reccommend artists and get a little piece of the sale even if they just bought one track. However, so far I am not impressed.

My application was processed promptly enough, but I have already discovered two major shortcomings. The "link direct to a particular product" feature is not available yet. This means I can only select from their featured links (the Tift Merritt image below is my only example) I suppose there is a way if I spent some time to create your own links with a little careful coding, but I don't have time for that. I acyually can't believe they launched without this "feature."

Second (again the image with Tift below is my only example) the links don't seem to work properly in Firefox...sure sure, IE works fine but still. Since the link launches the iTunes app I am also wondering what happens to visitors who have yet to download it. If any one can tell me that would be cool.

Acts of Volition Radio

Steven Garrity of silverorange has a nice little experiment going over at his site. It's his own downloadable radio program that highlights some nice music choices. I am not sure that he has figured out all of the licensing issues that he raised at the beginning but in the meantime enjoy (at press time) all 7 episodes of Acts of Volition Radio

I have surpassed (myself)

Well my new Stuggleville site has finally surpassed my old site (no link as I wouldn't want to mess things up now....it may lay in precarious balance ya know...) as the #1 search result for "Struggleville" a term I've never seen in my referrers log, but what the heck. The nerd in me still says Woohoo!

Google vs. The Blogosphere

Everyone knows Google is an amazing search tool. But has the nature and explosion of blogs started to erode its accuracy and usefulness? Several A-list bloggers (among others) are discussing just that. It helps to understand the primary way Google indexes pages for search results and the heavy linking done between blogs.
