oops! Found this in a draft state which never got posted, so these links are a little dated. Just pretend you are reading them on Dec 12th 2006 and they will seem so crunchy and fresh. I think I lost quite a few more of the top albums list in a computer snafu and abandoned the whole thing in disgust. Oh well, here they are anyway.
Chrysler ad campaign backfires...funny.
Pitchfork Top Albums 50 of 2006. (with video links) 17 of these I have never heard of...I haven't kept track, so I am not sure if this is more or less than in the past, but it feels not bad. Better then the mere 3 that rang familiar on this list.
(also Top 100 Tracks of 2006) Here's Rolling Stone's Top 50...with 14 (by my count) common picks to Pitchfork. The Rolling Stone list loses major credibility for the following: Red Hot Chili Peppers at #2 (??!) and Tool. I have not heard the Sean Lennon or Lindsay Buckingham releases to I withhold judgment for now.
The Prefix list runs closer to Pitchfork indie tastes and includes a nice flash interface to listen to one track of every album. The flash player includes a feature which is simultaneously nice and annoying...when you switch tabs in Firefox the track is paused.
The Onion AV Club list is up as well. The Hold Steady is at #1 and TV on the Radio at #2...they both seem to be highly regarded on many lists.
